Regulasi Emosi dan Stres Akademik pada Mahasiswa Asing di Indonesia

Abstract


Menjalani peran sebagai mahasiswa asing di Indonesia, bukanlah hal yang mudah karena diperhadapkan pada perbedaan budaya secara holistik. Aspek pendidikan yang ditempuh juga memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan, sehingga menimbulkan permasalahan stres akademik. Meningkat maupun menurunnya stres akademik dapat dipicu oleh faktor regulasi emosi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara regulasi emosi dengan stres akademik mahasiswa asing di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional bivariat cross-sectional yang melibatkan 101 orang mahasiswa asing yang berkuliah di Indonesia dengan menggunakan teknik accidental sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (α = 0,836) dan Student-Life Stress Inventory (α = 0,935). Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan negatif signifikan antara regulasi emosi dengan stres akademik pada mahasiswa asing di Indonesia (r = 0,091; p>0,05). Hal ini berarti bahwa ketika terjadi peningkatan maupun penurunan stres akademik, bukan disebabkan oleh penurunan maupun peningkatan regulasi emosi mahasiswa asing di Indonesia.
